EU Project - Development of a Modular Solution for Data Center Management and Cyber Resilience - POLARIS
Development of a Modular Solution for Data Center Management and Cyber Resilience – POLARIS
Applicant: CRATIS d.o.o., Varaždin
Project Partners:
- NEYHO informatika d.o.o., Velika Gorica
- CHAOS d.o.o., Varaždin
- TEB automatika d.o.o., Zagreb
- Faculty of Organization and Informatics (FOI), Varaždin
Project Overview:
The project includes the establishment of the SPIN consortium, consisting of CRATIS d.o.o. (Applicant) and the project partners: NEYHO informatika d.o.o., TEB automatika d.o.o., CHAOS d.o.o., and the Faculty of Organization and Informatics (FOI).
Project activities are focused on the development of two innovative products — POLARIS AURORA and POLARIS NEXUS — intended for users and managers of data centers with the highest level of cybersecurity.
The development and combined implementation of these two software tools aim to create a holistic platform – POLARIS – that will significantly transform the way data center services are utilized through:
- Easier management of data and infrastructure by end-users (whose equipment and data are located in the data center);
- Higher levels of access security and authorization (access rights) and equipment entry authorization within the data center;
- Better documented and more measurable communication with data center personnel;
- Improved reporting and data collection, particularly regarding regulatory requirements such as NIS, ESG, etc.;
- Reduced energy consumption due to better infrastructure management, easier distribution of server power and temperature regulation within the rented space (thereby optimizing electricity usage as a key resource).
By developing the POLARIS platform, a modular solution featuring two separate software tools will be launched on the global market, providing end-users with new capabilities for managing their infrastructure, as well as reporting features that are currently not available for automated data collection.
At the same time, the tools within the POLARIS platform will significantly support data center managers by increasing efficiency, enhancing already high security standards, and ultimately improving overall economic performance.
Currently, no user software multi-tenant solution on the global market meets the highest cybersecurity requirements, including Tier-III standards.
To ensure vendor-independent integration, the development of the solution will incorporate new ICT technologies, robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT), ensuring full compatibility across all types and manufacturers of equipment (e.g., PLC devices, SCADA systems, etc.).
Project Goals and Expected Results:
Two innovative products will be developed:
- POLARIS AURORA – a back-end solution for data collection and processing
- POLARIS NEXUS – a front-end solution for user management and reporting
The innovative products will be used by:
- Data center managers – who must ensure high levels of cyber and physical security, often limiting or complicating user-side management;
- End-users of data centers – who require broader data sets (especially due to directives mandating detailed reporting such as the NIS and CSRD directives) and who wish to manage their data faster, more easily, and more reliably. End-users also want more up-to-date tools to make changes to their infrastructure, such as cross-connect modifications, server load distribution, and equipment changes — for which they currently lack adequate tools.
The project will contribute to increased revenue for the applicant and partners, new employment opportunities, and overall enhancement of competitiveness.
